YEAR 2009- WOE & JUBILATION
“To look backward for a while is to refresh the eye, to restore it, and to render it more fit for its prime function of looking forward”
Yes, it is primarily important to look at the past once before steping in to the future. You have to know the past to understand the present and to build the future. Year 2009, for India is a mixture of happiness and sadness. Lets talk about one of the major & the most important event of 2009 for India that was ELECTIONS. Who have thought that Dr. Manmohan Singh would become a Prime Minister again? But his honesty has made him the second Prime Minister after Jawahar Lal Nehru to do so after a full five year term. So, India has finally did it by re-electing the Prime Minister. It is said that “Honesty is for the most part less profitable than dishonesty” and this has clearly proven by Madhu Koda , who was the Chief Minister of Jharkhand. He has showed that politics is the highest paying profession in the country. He was found to be involved in 4000 crore scam. He made over 4000 core and not only this, even Maoists received 30% of his share. When talking of dishonesty, how can we forget, Mr. B. Ramalinga Raju, former Chairman of Satyam Computers, committed a fraud worth Rs. 7,136 crore. Change is nature’s rule but what doesnot change till now is that India continued to be the most corrupt nations among the world in 2009 also until Pakistan, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka overtake it.
Lets forget all these things. Have you celebrated when there came the Sixth Pay Comission Report, all government employers might have done so. This report brought huge cash bonanzas for them. The UPA government was very generous to them. But this happiness ended with unprecedented PRICE HIKE. Its not a new thing because prices always rise faster than price indices. But this year, prices were on air. Everything, small or large, basic or luxurious, prices were at seventh cloud, almost out of the reach of the common person. GOLD was not ready to come down, Rs. 12000 at start of the year, Rs. 14000 at the mid, 15,000-17,000 & finally ended at 18,500, Someone please stop it, otherwise gold will be a dream. Basic commodities faced the same hike. Soon, the government will prove statistically how the increase in prices helped in a 20% weight reduction among the citizens of India.
Avoiding nitpicking, lets have a look at the SPORTS World, 2009 was the worst year in the history of Indian Sports in terms of Doping. There were a total of 24 drug cheats found this year which includes four athletes, two weightlifters and as many power lifters. Lets jubilate in the glory of the Number1 spot, India occupied in Test Cricket for the first time and Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar created history in the Mohali test against Australia, when he surpassed Brian Lara's 11,953 runs to become the highest run-getter in test cricket. Lets have a look at the show starrers of Indian Sports. Abhinav Bindra won the first-ever individual gold medal for the country in Olympic Games. He won the gold medal at Beijing Olympics in the 10m Air Rifle event. Sushil Kumar won a bronze medal in 66kg Freestyle Wrestling, while Vijender Kumar won a bronze medal in the 75kg Middleweight category boxing. For the first time in Olympic history, India returned with three individual medals. 19 year old shuttler Sania Nehwal became the first Indian woman to win a super series title, the highest category in Badminton on a par with a Grand Slam Victory in Tennis.t
We should feel ecstastic that finally NANO has strut in. The Rs. 1 lakh Tata Nano is all set to fulfill the dreams of millions who could not afford to buy a car because of high prices.
People should feel gay now because Delhi High Court legalised GAY SEX among consenting adults, ruling that Section 377 of the IPC, which treats such acts as criminal offense, runs counter to people fundamental rights to personal liberty, equality and non- discrimination guranteed under the constitution.
Talking of HEALTH field, India was the big looser in regards of health in this year for SWINE FLU was uncontrollable and has taken many lives. As on December 20, 2009, as many as 782 lives in India were lost to the H1N1 influenza. Thanks to ur Medical facilities provided by our government on Airports.
Now cheer up, because it’s the time to have a look over Bollywood buffs. Bollywood gave us new hits this year but the most remarkable among all was Slumdog Millionaire. It becomes a grand reason of celebration for India. The film was nominated for 10 Academy Awards in 2009 and won eight. It has also won seven BAFTA Awards, five critics awards and four Gloden Globes. A.R. Rahman made us feel proud by winning two Oscars for the same. We should not forget too, the grand success of 2012 and AVATAR. The bestest technology is being used now in Cinemas. But actually there is no dearth of those who actually think that it is going to pack up for the earth soon enough. This is all the crap fed by our dearest astrologers. 3 idiots was another hit which collected Rs. 100 crores within 4 days of its release. Aamir Khan has December as ihis lucky month for the last year’s December release Ghajini was a superblast of that year.
When talking of Bollywood, why to forget our TV tamasha, after all it has given us a mode of entertainment by arranging Swayamvar of tamasha queen Rakhi Sawant. It has not effected Rakhi’s life at all, she is moving on, but the contestants came in, became the famous personalities, Thanks to her. Rakhi, we already knew it that you are not going to marry any of them but you drop it within the shed of another reality show Pati, Patni aur woh. Time to cherish, for Vindu Dara Singh became Big Boss3.The show collected much attention then expected.
Talking of world’s Breaking News of year 2009, the most important of them was the Election of Barack Obama as the president of US. He is the first blach president of the US. Another remarkable achievement was when Venketraman Ramakrishnan got the nobel for his study of the structure and function of the ribosome. In another news, The Srilankan army achieved major success when it killed LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran. He was most wanted in not only Sri Lanka but also in India. On the same side, Kaiane Aldorine became Miss World 2009.She is so gorgious! Isn't she?
We should now pay our heartiest gratitude towards those who are not with us now but we miss them and we will miss them for over years. Andhra Pradesh CM YSR Reddy was one of them which put the country on a fullstop. King of pop Michael Jackson was another unforgettable memory for us, left a void in the world of music. When talking of music, we should not forget the uncertain death of our dearest Ishmeet Singh (Amul Star Voice of India Winner). We really miss that voice, it could have create history. But cherishing the beautiful moments and forgetting the bad ones, we should say a good bye to 2009 and give a warm welcome to year 2010
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
