Man power is one of India’s greatest resources. There arises a thought if this man power is efficient , trained and focussed. This turns out to be a doubt. Having the world’s largest manpower Dr.Abdul Kalam’s view of India becoming the super power in 2020 should have happened years before.
But why has India not been able to achieve this target till now and is still working for it?
The answer to this question includes a lot of problems to be discussed. But here I would like to mention one of the major isssues that needs attention from all the citizens of our nation. The scenario of people unable to read or write a single sentence even in their mother tongue still prevails in our country. There are still a large population of our country who are tagged with the label "illiterates” .This includes a major portion of the skilled labour in some parts of the urban areas and mostly in the rural areas who are either deprived of the access to basic education or are unaware of the need and importance of education in the modern world. This leads to a small community of people who lack the basic knowledge of understanding the recent trends and developments. If not checked instantly this community would grow further in size. People struggling for their daily bread find it diffcult to educate their children and hence the thought that educaton is unnecessary arises. Though the government has set in a lot of schemes to improve the literacy rate and make sure that all children of our country get the basic educaton ,some parents send their children to work having no other choice. Even if this is overcome there exists another issue that needs to be discussed.
In a competitive world that exists today it is difficult for people to survive with just basic education. Unable to afford for higher education many are forced to terminate their studies and find some job still making it difficult to lead their daily life. Here at this situation the well employed and the well settled citizens have a vital role to play.
*Do you think it would be difficult for a person spending lakhs of his income on extravagant things to spend a very small portion of it for a student’s education.
Even if not as a single person a group of four well settled citizens taking care of a student’s education will make a great difference because education is the most wealthy asset a person could acquire. The real tool to obtain salvation is through learning and one who has acquired it must share it with others.
Let us remember that it is the united effort of all the citizens that will lead to the growth of our nation.
