Can you imagine a society without knowledge, a state without profession, a country without talent? This is all, what is happening in India. The greatest reason for creation of such an environment is BRAIN DRAIN. Brain Drain, in simple words, means the people who study in their own nation and after study they go to foreign countries to work and earn money. US and UK Corporations have caused the ultimate brain drain in India. 70% Students in India think that there are much better opportunities outside India to work but they forget that this act actually is effecting the per capita income and hence the National income. Students study here, take all the knowledge and when it comes to do something in their nation and add to the nations income they go abroad saying that INDIA does not have career opportunity.
This is indeed a great injustice done to India. India is loosing its talent day by day, year by year, through decades. Not only in any one stream, but India is loosing its best from every stream. Everybody is rushing towards developed countries, but what about their developing nation, if they will serve others, then this country will always remain developing and will never be developed. It is estimated that 78% of Indian engineers from mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Civil, Instrumentation, Chemical and Biomedical engineering leave their field after graduation and work for BPO companies like TCS, Wipro etc. If this is not brain drain then what is?
India is facing a huge lose due to this problem, The UNDP estimates that India loses $2 billion a year because of the emigration of computer experts to the U.S. Indian students going abroad for their higher studies costs India a foreign exchange outflow of $10 billion annually. Mostly students or professionals migrate because of conflict, political instability, lack of opportunity, or health risks. Only about seven to eight people of every 100 were employable in the business process outsourcing industry. On the other hand the US and UK engineers work on their own technical field and they shift the dirty but talent-needed IT work to countries like India.
When the young professionals become highly educated, the opportunities inside the country suddenly seem small and worthless in front of the starry image of the west. More than anything else, better lifestyle and a developed country name to flaunt, lead them into migrating their working areas from their native place to a western country. Students and professionals should once think before leaving India that India has a lot of opportunities. A big example can be seen in field of Cricket as IPL (Indian Premier League) is first ever organized in India and in no other country. We have to consider the advanced changes made in even almost every field.
The main reasons for Brain Drain are:-
- Unemployment
- Immigration rules
- Colonial links
- Financial incentives and material benefits
- Pursuit of higher education
- Improvement of working conditions and facilities
- Avoidance of excessive bureaucratic procedures
- Compensation for the mismatch between Indian education and employment.
The doctors, engineers and scientists owe a duty to their motherland. Our nation is spending huge amounts of money on their training. These people should not betray their own nation by serving foreign nations who does not even understand the Indian Culture and Indian Beauty. There is no doubt that India is bound to become one of the most industrialised and scientifically advanced countries in the world. Let every Indian scientist, engineer and technician share the privilege of participating in the noble task of building nation. Thus they can earn the gratitude of their people.
All Young professionals, India is calling you, Go and Serve her. And then India will become the Golden Bird of our dream again.
Go India, Go!!!
