Note: the ARROW keys are the arrow keys, which are usually between the letters and numeric keypad, close to the DELETE key. The WIN key is the one with the Windows logo, usually located between CTRL and ALT, exstem two. When you see the sign "+" means that the keys are pressed together, like this: hit the first, keep holding, press the second (and so on) and release all.
Windows in general
WIN = Open the Start menu. Use the arrow keys to navigate the options, and press Enter to open an item.
WIN + D = Show Desktop.
WIN + M Minimize all.
SHIFT + WIN + M = Desminimizar everything.
WIN + R = Run.
WIN + E = Opens Windows Explorer.
WIN + Pause Break = System Properties.
WIN + F = Find Files or Folders.
WIN + U = Utility Manager.
WIN + L = Lock Computer or change User, without logging off.
CTRL + ESC = Opens the Start menu.
CTRL + ALT + DEL = Task Manager, to close programs locked. Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista etc. can open the "Windows Security", with options to change password, log off, or open the task manager.
CTRL + SHIFT + Esc = Task Manager (with the advantage of opening it directly, and not the security screen in some versions of Windows).
ALT + underlined letter MENU BUTTONS OR = Access the menu or button. Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move, ENTER to confirm or the spacebar to select or deselect the checkbox marked.
ALT + TAB = Switch open windows. Hold ALT and TAB to go to select the desired window, and then release it.
SHIFT + ALT + TAB = Switch open windows, only selecting the former and not the next. When using the ALT + TAB, you can press and hold SHIFT when you need it.
ALT + ESC = Switch directly to the previous window in the taskbar.
CTRL + TAB = Switch between tabs (tabs) of windows that has tabs, advancing, and in some programs, alternating open documents.
SHIFT + CTRL + TAB = Switch between tabs, going back to the previous, instead of forward.
ALT + F4 = Close the active window. If no window is open, open the dialog "Shut down the computer."
ALT + SPACE = Opens the Control menu of the active window (= click on the title bar with the right-or, more precisely, click the icon located on the left, the title bar of the programs). Tip: Use to maximize, minimize and restore windows by the keyboard.
F10 = Select the menus of the current program. Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move through them.
SHIFT + F10 = Corresponds to click right on the selected object or focus. Use the arrows to select a menu item, and ENTER to "click it. You can directly use the button that has a menu with a small arrow, is called "hot key application, which normally is between the keys CTRL WIN RIGHT and some keyboards.
PRINT SCREEN = Copy a picture of the current screen to the clipboard. Just paste in your favorite graphics program (Paint can be), or an editor that supports images (like Word). Ideal for taking pictures of the screen without the need for third-party programs.
ALT + PRINT SCREEN = Copies an image of just the active window, not the entire screen (the active window is a window that is in the foreground).
Windows Explorer
Check out the tips below for selection of texts, many apply to work with files and folders as well
F3 = Find files in current directory.
F4 = Opens the shopping list from the address bar.
F5 = Refresh the current window.
F6 = Select the text of the address bar.
F11 = Open the page in full screen. Hit F11 to return to normal.
CTRL + H = Open the history list.
CTRL + R = Opens the list of favorites.
BACKSPACE = Open parent folder (above).
Copy and selection of text or files
CTRL + C = Copy selection.
CTRL + V = Paste.
CTRL + X = Cut (move).
CTRL + A = Select all of the current field.
CTRL + Z = Undo the last editing action, if possible. Be careful when using Windows Explorer, it can desrenomear a folder that has just been renamed, deleted files that were copied or move back files that were moved.
Texts in various programs
Many apply to files in Windows Explorer also
LEFT ARROW = Place the cursor one character before.
RIGHT ARROW = Place the cursor one character after.
UP ARROW = Go to the top line, in the same column.
ABIX arrow = Go to the bottom line, in the same column.
SHIFT + LEFT ARROW = Go selecting the cursor. Holding shift, go by hitting the LEFT ARROW.
SHIFT + RIGHT ARROW = Previous item selects the right of the cursor. Hold SHIFT and RIGHT arrow keys go.
SHIFT + UP ARROW = Select the text between the current line and line up in the same column. Hold SHIFT and go UP ARROW to select more rows up.
SHIFT + UP ARROW = Previous item, select lines down.
HOME = Place the cursor at the beginning of the line.
END = Put the cursor at the end of the line.
SHIFT + HOME = Selects from cursor to the beginning of the line.
SHIFT + END = Selects from cursor to end of line.
Page Up = Scroll up one screen.
PAGE DOWN = Scroll down one screen.
INSERT = Toggles between insert or replace characters while typing.
DELETE = Deletes characters to the right of the cursor.
= BACKSPACE Delete character left of cursor.
SHIFT + = Place the secondary symbol key. In the case of letters, switch to upper case (capital letters).
ALT + RIGHT KEY = Place the symbol tertiary key (in those with three symbols printed on the key).
CAPS LOCK = Switch case as you type.
Internet Explorer
Backspace = Back (provided that no edit field has the focus).
SHIFT + Backspace = Forward (since no edit field has the focus).
ALT + HOME = Open the home page.
F3 = Search the web (not recommended, prefisa use your favorite search site).
F4 = Display the shopping list from the address bar.
F5 = Refresh (reload) the page.
F6 = Select the address bar.
F11 = Open the page in full screen. Hit F11 to return to normal. Tip: Even browsing in full screen, you can press WIN to open the Start menu or use the ALT + TAB to switch between open windows.
CTRL + F = Find text on current page (click logo is good in the beginning of the page before giving CTRL + F, to leave the cursor at the very beginning and then search from there).
CTRL + D = Add the current page to favorites.
TAB = go from link to link or object to object on the page. Hit the space bar to selecioar if a field marking, or press ENTER to open, if a button or link. The active object will be surrounded by a dotted rectangle, so you can identify it.
SHIFT + TAB = The same thing the TAB, but in the opposite direction. Ideal for back links back or when you "pass" the point with the TAB.
CTRL + H = Open the history list on the left.
CTRL + I = Opens the favorites list on the left.
CTRL + O = Open File, a website or any URL.
SHIFT + click on a link = Open link in new window, keeping the job open. The same thing as clicking the link to the right and choose "Open in new window".
HOME = Go to the top of the page.
END = Go to the bottom of the page.
SPACE = Scrolls the screen down.
SHIFT + SPACE = Scrolls the screen up.
ARROW KEYS = Roll the screen to the direction of the arrow keys (up, down, left and right).
PAGE UP = Scroll the screen up
PAGE DOWN = Scroll the screen down.
New, Internet Explorer 7 (with tabs)
CTRL + click = Open link in new tab, without bringing it forward.
CTRL + SHIFT + click = Open link in new tab, bringing it forward.
CTRL + T = New tab.
ALT + ENTER = New tab with the URL from the address bar (if it is focused).
ALT + ENTER = New tab to search the text of the search field (if it is focused).
CTRL + Q = View thumbnails of the tabs. Click the thumbnail to activate the corresponding tab.
CTRL + TAB and CTRL + SHIFT + TAB = Switch between tabs (respectively, forward and backward).
CTRL + n, where n is a number from 1 to 8 = Switch to the tab in the "non" position.
CTRL + 9 = Switch to the last tab used.
CTRL + W = Close current tab.
ALT + F4 = Closes all the tabs (and browser window).
CTRL + ALT + F4 = Closes all tabs except the current one.
